WALX Wessex

Walx Wessex is a community of people who love exploring the great outdoors, meeting new friends and building their health and fitness whilst having fun. We're based in the Wiltshire end of the North Wessex Downs AONB and have access to some amazing countryside for our walks such as the Ridgeway, the Pewsey Vale, the Kennet and Avon canal and the ancient landscape of Avebury. We offer primarily nordic walks but also some Open walks for those that want to experience our walks and friendly groups with or without poles. If you are ready to give it a go then look for one of our Power of the Poles courses.  A 90 minute session to introduce you to using the poles and getting the most from them. After this course you can join our nordic walks and practice and perfect the technique on the walks. We can also offer an optional advanced POP course to prefect your faster techniques and hill work. We also offer outdoor fitness (Total Body WALX) using our poles or using other equipment such as Smoveys or fitness bands or just what we find on a walk.

Biography: WALX Wessex

WALX Wessex is based in the Marlborough, Pewsey and Hungerford areas of the beautiful North Wessex Downs AONB. Our Explorer WALX take in the the Pewsey Vale, the Marlborough Downs and the Kennet and Avon canal. We include walks along the Wiltshire section of the Ridgeway National Trail as well as other long distance paths such as the Mid Wilts Way, Wayfarers Way and Wansdyke Path. Our classes range from Nordic Walx - using poles to engage our upper body and core making it easier to walk faster, further for longer without feeling do tired including much easier to tackle the many hills around the area. Power of the Poles  - a 90 minute session to introduce you to using the poles and getting the most from them. After this course you can join our nordic walks and practice and perfect the technique on the walks. We can also offer an optional advanced POP course to prefect your faster techniques and hill work. Wellness Walx - more gentle walks to improve your fitness at your own level and may include some Tai chi Movements or Yoga Walx to help with balance and co-ordination. Explorer Walx to take in longer more challenging walks to explore and discover this beautiful area. Total Body WALXs where we push the pace with poles using the hills and landscape to get a great outdoor workout. We also outdoor classes using other equipment such as Smoveys, bands as well as poles to work on strength, balance and conditioning. Smoveys are also offered online via HQ Zoom on Tuesdays at 9am and Fridays at 8:30am.
